On Friday March 22nd, the first “The Block Party '' @theblock.party took place in 1920 ybor in Tampa, FL. The Block party opened its doors providing a space for up and coming designers, stylists, celebrity nail artists, tattoo artists, jewelers, and a widely renowned black owned restaurant 7th and Grove @7thandgrove to showcase their talents and services.
The Block Party boasted of an international lineup, with the goal of creating a new platform for creatives of color to be received by a world-wide audience. Among the Lineup were Sadboi, Isaiah Falls , Taylor Jasmine, Lua de santana, and Taylor moon along with the Florida DJs: dj Donnie Luv @djdonnieluv and T.couture @t.couture
Saboi
Closing out the night was Toronto artist Sadboi@sadboi, with a performance you would not have wanted to miss. Sadbois’ fans also known as “Crybabies” showed out for her performance. Florida welcomed Sadboi with open arms and she did not disappoint. The Canadian musician brought her blend of reggae, dancehall and R&B to the stage with an impeccable performance that left the audience wanting more. Her stage presence commanded attention and her set, surely, left a lasting impact on all those in attendance.
Isaiah Falls
Isaiah falls @isaiahfalls and dj/producer icee.red @iceered a Florida local, has been hitting the charts in the last couple weeks with his song “Florida Baby”, but the artist has a lot more in store for his fans. Attendees sang along with Isaiah throughout his performance and made the night quite special. Isaiah's energy moved through his crowd of “Lovers Only”. Isaiah's discography speaks for itself as he has so much that his fans are patiently waiting for. His soothing voice and R&B melodies are going to continue to charm music listeners. His performance was definitely one to remember.
Taylor jasmine
Taylor Jasmine @cravetay also made her way to the stage from Atlanta georgia. Taylor Jasmine has been living on stage for most of her life and it showed. It was truly a pleasure to see Taylor Jasmine on stage giving the audience a taste of her sweet R&B, pop and soul. There is no question that Taylors voice is one of a kind. The well rounded artist showed her years of experience on stage with a beautiful performance that left the audience in admiration. Having Taylor come out to Florida for this night was truly a treat.
Lua de Santana
Spanish-Brazilian artist Lua de Santana@luadesantana, made her way all the way from Madrid to Florida for this special performance. The multilingual performer left quite an impression on the audience with her great vocal range along with her stage presence and choreography. The up and coming performer is making waves in the industry with her ability to seamlessly blend genres within her debut song Piri,Piri: a soulful ballad that breaks into rebellious Brazilian Funk. Lua de Santana will not soon leave the minds or mouths of The Block Party’s attendees and observers alike. It is exciting to be able to see what is clearly a superstar in the making hit the USA stage for the first time.
Taylor moon
A Tampa local that could be considered, Tampa’s best kept secret, Taylor Moon @taylormoonmusic is about to spill the beans. The singer/rapper opened up the night and set the tone for the block party. Her performance and ability to connect and engage with her audience is something to be noted. There is no doubt Taylor moon is destined for great things. She is proof that there is a lot of talent deserving of a platform in Florida. We are so excited to see where Taylor moon goes.
