Some collections are understood through their silhouettes, while others begin with a feeling. For Spring-Summer 2027, CHANEL proposes precisely that: an idea of lightness, movement and freedom, as if getting dressed could become a way of taking flight.
Presented at the Grand Palais, Matthieu Blazy’s collection creates a universe in which everything seems to slowly lift from the ground. The setting, marked by large seagull figures suspended above the space, immediately introduces a sense of flight that runs throughout the show.
But lightness here does not mean a lack of structure. On the contrary, it comes from transforming some of CHANEL’s most recognisable codes — tweed, the suit, the Maison’s classic proportions — and giving them a new sense of movement. Blazy continues to develop his language within the house not by breaking with its history, but by allowing it the freedom to be reinterpreted.
Perhaps this is where one of the most interesting ideas of this new chapter at CHANEL lies: tradition no longer feels static.
The heritage of a Maison such as CHANEL is not only found in what we recognise at first glance. It also lives in the construction, the materials, the details and the savoir-faire that allow an apparently simple piece to be the result of extraordinary complexity.
And there is something deeply contemporary about this way of understanding luxury.

At a time when everything seems to move faster and faster, true sophistication may lie precisely in what takes time: a technique passed down through generations, an intricately crafted embroidery, the precise selection of a fabric, or the almost imperceptible proportion that makes a garment move in a particular way.
Buying a piece from a Maison such as CHANEL also means entering that history. It is not simply about acquiring an object, but about recognising the work, knowledge and culture that exist behind it.
Blazy seems to understand this dimension perfectly. Since arriving at the Maison, his approach has sought to bring a sense of naturalness even to the most elaborate pieces: allowing savoir-faire to feel extraordinary without becoming distant, and allowing sophistication to coexist with a certain spontaneity.
Spring-Summer 2027 continues that conversation.
Here, lightness is not only physical. It is also an attitude. The possibility of carrying history without being confined by it. Of respecting the codes while allowing them to move.
Perhaps that is ultimately the most precise image of this collection: CHANEL taking flight without ever losing sight of what made it CHANEL.
