Si viajaras en el tiempo para atrás, ¿a qué momento de tu vida irías?
Creo que a cuando era adolescente, nunca me ha importado lo que dijeran de mí. Siempre decía ‘ande yo caliente, ríase la gente’ desde que era muy pequeña, pero cuando estuve en el Instituto alguna vez fui influenciada por críticas por mi manera de vestir o ser que ahora lo pienso y nunca debería haber dejado que me afecten.
¿Lo que sos hoy es algo que habías soñado o planeado en tu juventud o fue algo repentino?
Soy lo que siempre he querido ser. Cuando terminas con tus estu — dios siempre te preguntan qué es lo que quieres hacer con tu vida; Recuerdo decirle a mi madre que me gustaba el arte y la moda y que quería dedicarme a ello de la forma que fuera. Mi madre al principio me miró y me dijo: ‘Sí ya sabía yo que la niña nos había salido artista’. Y siempre dije que tuviera el trabajo que fuera, siempre haría lo que me apasiona y que por ello conseguiría que mi trabajo no fuera tra — bajo. Y que los valores son aquello con lo que te vas a dormir todos los días, por lo que nunca los perdería.
¿Cuándo notaste por primera vez que tenías ojo para lo vintage, que te inspiraba la ropa usada y de otros tiempos?
Desde pequeña, me vestía con ropa de mi madre o de mi abuela. Tenía un interés especial por cualquier cosa que viniera del pasado, ya fuera música, decoración o moda. ¡Hasta cine! La nostalgia de una época no vivida.

If you could travel back in time, which moment of your life would you revisit?
I think I’d go back to my teenage years. I never really cared about what people said about me. I always had this attitude of “I don’t care what people think,” but there were times in high school when I let myself be influenced by criticism about my way of dressing or being. Looking back, I realize I should never have let those things get to me.
Is who you are today something you dreamed of or planned in your youth, or was it something sudden?
I am who I’ve always wanted to be. When you finish your studies, everyone asks what you want to do with your life; I remember telling my mother that I loved art and fashion and that I wanted to pursue them, one way or another. At first, my mom looked at me and said, “I knew you’d turn out to be an artist.” And I always said that no matter what job I had, I would always do what I’m passio — nate about, making sure my work doesn’t feel like work. I believe that your values are what you go to sleep with every night, so I’d never lose them.
When did you first realize you had an eye for vintage, that you were inspired by clothing from different eras?
Since I was a child, I’d dress in my mother’s or my grandmother’s clothes. I had a special interest in anything from the past, whether it was music, decor, or fashion. Even cinema! I had a nostalgia for a time I hadn’t lived.
EN ELLAS PUEDES VER EL PASADO
¿La moda siempre fue una parte importante de tu vida?
Siempre. Donde yo nací fue una ciudad que se dedica a la indus — tria del calzado y a los accesorios, desde pequeña tanto mi madre como mi abuela estaban presentes haciendo piezas de accesorios o trabajando con materiales. Desde que era pequeña mi madre y mi abuela me hacían los vestidos por lo que desde muy temprano tuve la posibilidad de elegir mis propias telas en las tiendas. Y mi abuela tejía mis gorritos y piezas de crochet desde que era un bebé.
Por tu experiencia, ¿cuáles crees que son las principales dife — rencias entre París y Madrid?
Viví el mismo tiempo en París que en Madrid, durante unos cinco años en cada lugar. Siempre diré que la principal diferencia es que Madrid es ‘fácil’, es mucho más pequeña y accesible. Pero a su favor París al ser más grande tiene un sinfín de posibilidades y tú mismo puedes crear tu propia ‘Paris’, como yo digo, es más fácil crear tu propio mundo en esa ciudad. Aun así son locaciones muy diferentes a nivel estético pero tienen algo muy parecido, en ellas puedes ver el pasado.
YOU CAN SEE THE PAST IN THEM
Was fashion always an important part of your life?
Absolutely. The town I was born in is known for its footwear and accessories industry, and since I was young, both my mother and grandmother were involved in making accessories and working with materials. My mother would make my dresses when I was little, with my grandmother’s help, so I was able to choose my own fabrics from the shops from an early age. My grandmother knitted my hats and crocheted pieces since I was a baby.
Based on your experience, what do you think are the main differences between Paris and Madrid?
I lived in both Paris and Madrid for about five years each. I’ll always say that the main difference is that Madrid is “easy”; it’s much sma — ller and more accessible. But on the upside, Paris, being larger, offers endless possibilities, and you can create your own “Paris.” As I like to say, it’s easier to create your own world in that city. Even so, they’re very different aesthetically, but they share one thing: you can see the past in them.
