What happens when an object becomes something entirely different from what it was meant to be? For Déborah Amaral, better known as Freaky Debbie, the answer lies in taking familiar pieces of fashion and streetwear apart and giving them a new life.

A self-described Serial Reworker, the French creator and artistic director has spent more than fifteen years exploring the possibilities of transformation. Sneakers, football jerseys, caps and sportswear become the starting point for an ongoing dialogue between fashion, art, design and contemporary culture.

After founding Pantheone and later Rework Paris, Amaral continues to develop her practice under the name Freaky Debbie, collaborating with major brands and reworking some of their most recognisable pieces. Her approach goes beyond customisation: it is about questioning the identity of an object, shifting its purpose and discovering what it can become.

Now, DESTROY TO REBUILD brings together more than fifteen years of creations, experiments and collaborations in a single publication. Gathering the pieces and images that have shaped her career, the book traces a journey from sneakers and football culture to sportswear and luxury, revealing the many ways an existing object can be reconsidered.

Rather than looking back at a finished body of work, the publication offers a closer look at a creative process built on movement, instinct and constant transformation. A visual archive of a practice that finds new possibilities in things we thought we already knew.
