The creative practice of María Isas, an artist and designer from Jalisco, Mexico, has resisted operating within the conventional structures of fashion from the outset. Without predictable seasons or collections tied to the accelerated rhythm of the market, Sentimiento moves closer to something like an inherited recipe. Styles and patterns repeat, mutate and evolve organically until they arrive somewhere that can be called home.
Her work moves across fashion, installation, performance, music and sculpture, articulating a deconstructive language that unsettles established conventions. It centres on pre-existing garments, materially and symbolically altered through appropriation, rewriting narratives around gender, consumption and the codes of dress.
For FW 2026, Sentimiento presents Traumnovelle, a collection that emerges from a distinctly personal register. The title references the novella by Arthur Schnitzler, later adapted by Stanley Kubrick into Eyes Wide Shut.
The collection begins with the image of a family dinner. A ritual of hands cooking in unison, embroidered tablecloths, the scent of punch, wrapped gifts and evening dresses. But Sentimiento resists the stillness of the family album. Beneath the surface of celebration, the work turns toward what remains unspoken at the table. Rehearsed silences, performative smiles, the unease of sharing blood with someone who feels unfamiliar.
Who are you, really, when no one is looking?
This tension between festive exterior and private vulnerability is rendered through a collision of textures. Eveningwear meets T-shirts, lace and lingerie. Volume sits against intimacy. The ceremonial fractures into the everyday.
One of Sentimiento's more telling gestures is its relation to time. Within an industry defined by speed, the brand chooses to slow down. Rather than producing anew, it works with what already exists, returning to its own archive, retrieving past ideas and shifting them into new forms. In doing so, it loosens the authority of the label itself, relocating value onto the garment and opening up a more fluid reading of how the body is dressed and understood.
María Isas' work orbits around everyday practices shaped by gender. The domestic space, motherhood, and both symbolic and physical forms of power. Football, historically tied to expansion and occupation, is repositioned as a critical device.

La propuesta creativa de María Isas —artista y diseñadora originaria de Jalisco— se ha negado desde sus inicios a operar bajo las lógicas convencionales de la moda. Sin temporadas predecibles, sin colecciones que respondan al ritmo vertiginoso del mercado, Sentimiento propone algo más cercano a una receta heredada. Estilos y patrones que se repiten, mutan y evolucionan orgánicamente hasta encontrar un lugar que pueda llamarse hogar.
Su práctica se mueve entre la moda, la instalación, la performance, la música y la escultura, desde una lógica deconstructiva que cuestiona convenciones. Su trabajo se centra en prendas preexistentes, intervenidas material y simbólicamente a través del apropiacionismo, reescribiendo narrativas alrededor del género, el consumo y los códigos de la moda.

La colección parte de la cena familiar. Ese ritual de manos que cocinan al unísono, manteles bordados, el aroma del ponche, los regalos envueltos y los vestidos de noche extravagantes. Pero Sentimiento no se queda con la foto para el álbum. Bajo el brillo de la festividad, la propuesta interroga lo que no se dice en la mesa. Los silencios ensayados, las sonrisas de protocolo, la extrañeza de compartir sangre con quien se siente un desconocido.
¿Quién eres realmente cuando nadie te observa?
La dicotomía entre el exterior festivo y la vulnerabilidad de los secretos se materializa en una colisión de texturas. Los vestidos de gala dialogan con camisetas, encaje y lencería. Lo voluminoso convive con lo íntimo. Lo ceremonial se fractura con lo cotidiano.
Uno de los gestos más interesantes de Sentimiento es tan político como estético. En una industria que exige velocidad, la marca elige la pausa. Frente a la inmediatez de los fashion calendars, propone crear desde lo que ya existe. Examinar el archivo propio, rescatar ideas del pasado para darles nueva vida. Al renunciar a las etiquetas convencionales, Sentimiento le otorga un valor relativo a la prenda, desafiando los sistemas tradicionales del vestir y abriendo una mirada más libre sobre cómo habitamos el cuerpo y la ropa.
El trabajo de María Isas orbita alrededor de las prácticas cotidianas moldeadas por el género. El espacio doméstico, la maternidad, las formas simbólicas y físicas del poder. En su obra, el fútbol —históricamente patriarcal, marcado por la expansión y la ocupación del espacio— se convierte en una herramienta crítica.
Traumnovelle se presentó el 17 de abril de 2026 en el marco de la Volvo Fashion Week México, en Guadalajara. Una cena a la que valió la pena llegar tarde, solo para quedarse a ver qué secretos terminaban sobre la mesa.
